2023 Salvation Army Toy Run
Bleasby Parish Council
The toy run is an annual event to support the Salvation Army toy appeal aimed at giving underprivileged children two or 3 Christmas gifts in order to give them a better Christmas than they would have had.
The numbers of children in crisis have increased dramatically over the last couple of years from just over 300, to over 600, partly due to the current financial difficulties and an influx of Ukranian children refugees.
Our group of supportive motorcyclists and scooter riders fielded around 200 machines last year, plus a couple of Reliant 3 wheelers. Many of the riders and their machines are in seasonal fancy dress and make a wonderful show as they arrive in small groups and as the whole group ride off together, bound for the Salvation Army church in Balderton.
Riders bring the gifts , purchased by themselves, and of course, anyone who wishes to come along with the family to join in are welcome to bring their own gift. Someone will deliver it for you. In recent years , these extra gifts have filled a couple of cars and the Reliants.
Santa will be there in full dress and riding a huge bike covered in tinsel.
