Bleasby Local History Society
Bleasby Local History Society was formed over thirty years ago to pursue research into the history of Bleasby, especially regarding the families who have lived here. We have undertaken recording days from time to time, when photos are taken to show the village at that time. This, along with old photos, helps us mount displays and exhibitions in the village.
Although research still goes on, the activity now most enjoyed by the majority of members is the annual programme of lectures and visits. We meet monthly on the last Tuesday of the month in the village hall at 7.30pm and all are most welcome to attend our meetings.
We also have a number of publications on aspects of Bleasby’s history which members have written and these are available from officers of the Society.
Other activities that the Society engages in are occasional events such as the commemoration of the 1604 Bleasby plague, the centenary of the death of William Booth, former resident of Bleasby, and the commemorations of the Great War.
The President is Barbara Cast 830284, the Secretary is Jenny Sterland and the Treasurer is Brenda McLeish - we have a small committee which ensures the activities and business of the society are well organised.
